SOOB MAS

Soob Mas was born in 1905. He was the youngest child of Nkias Tub and Xis Thoj. He was the only son in the family who was literate. Because of this, he was choosen to become Nai Phong to lead the territory of Hong Nonh; consisting of seven villiages. In 1948, he led a group of Hmong delegates traveling from Hong Nonh to Luang Prabang to meet King Sisavangvong of Laos.

As a leader, Soob Mas built his reputation through hard work and loyalty. He served King Sisavangvong during the French occupation of Laos. For the short time during his leadership reign, he was very well known by the community and respected. Wherever he went his people and friends were always welcome his presence. Soob Mas pass away in 1951 but his legacy remains within all the people he touched.

Together, Soob Mas and Lo Vaj had eight children, two sons and five daughters. They also adapted another son. Soob Mas and Lo Vaj legacy has grown to 112 children’s grandchildren and growing.
